The biggest grass seed of the summer yet!
Poor Harvey here was bought in to the practice sneezing and with some pus coming from his left nostril.
The sneezing has started quite suddenly and as we’ve been seeing a lot of grass seed problems recently (see last blog post) we decided to book him straight in for endoscopy.
And look at what we found! A large grass seed was lodged 7cms in to the nose in the delicate tissues.
Fortunately we were able to grasp it and retrieve it easily and we gave the nose a flush out to clear away pus and infection.
Had the grass seed been left it would have caused a very nasty abscess and a lot of tissue damage, which could even have been permanent.
Harvey is doing well but his owners will be keeping him well clear of long grass from now on.
